Have you ever been in a situation where your lack of courage held you back? Did you regret it afterward?
Here’s my story:
In 2019, I had the idea of developing a skincare line. But where would I even start? I had no experience in the industry. I thought to myself: “what am I doing trying to step outside of direct patient care after all these years (and I mean years) of schooling?” I toyed with the idea for several months. I researched the big bad world of beauty and was scared to dip my toe in the water. All of these companies had people with either vast experience or thick bank accounts. What business did little old me have in all of this?
One day, I was staring out the window of a busy coffee shop sipping on green juice, (because why not when you are in WeHo) and watching the trendy people of West Hollywood walk by. At that moment, I decided F it, I’m going to learn how to formulate organic cosmetics. A few Google searches later, I landed on an online program to become a certified organic cosmetic formulator. Bear in mind that money was tight. Then I reminded myself that I spent all that money on college as an investment in myself, and it paid off. How is this any different? So, I had a YOLO moment and enrolled. I can still remember the feeling of courage, determination, and excitement that I had, so naturally, I texted my bestie to share the big news. The lesson learned

Here’s the truth of the matter. We all face fear regardless of who we are, what kind of background we have, or the amount of money we may have in our bank account.
Fear can be one of the most crippling things to contend with, but if we live the YOLO mentality and take courageous action toward our goals, things begin to look way less daunting.
